Iran's cabinet in emergency meeting; Presidential election in 50 days
The country's cabinet has held an emergency meeting after the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi, was killed in a helicopter crash. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber is presiding over the meeting. In a statement, the cabinet sent a message to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressing deep condolences.

Meanwhile, a new presidential election will be held in Iran within the next 50 days after the assassination of President Raisi. According to the constitution, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhab will serve as acting president in the interim.
